Today I attempted to start a new photomanipulation with a winter theme, but I seem to have lost all the perspective for doing photomanipulations. I first came into contact with photomanipulations about a year ago when I saw the gallery of =Princess-of-Shadows I remeber the admiration I had for her beautifully crafted pieces, and I was swept away by the beauty of a well crafted photomanipulation where reality ends and endless combinations and posibilities exist.
My first response as a beginner was to create something similarly beautiful. Needless to say, I failed. If you look at the first deviation of my gallery called Sea, you will be able to see that. The lack of skill with photoshop, the green edges on the photograph of the model, the sloppy cutting... It is quite an embarassing piece, but I like too keep it.
As I became further acquainted with the photomnaipulation community, I noticed that the task of creating these pieces was far more complicated than what I had originally thought. Yet there were gems in the photomnaipulation and stock image galleries that kept me going on in spite of the difficulties. After my second piece A Summer Day in A Park, I was quite sure I could never be able to cut the characters of my pieces out of thier backgrounds properly. I didn't want to quit, since I kept finding more and more astonishing pieces on dA.
For example
`LuneBleu's gallery stunned me. Her photomanipulations had the air of perfection and lightness about them. it would be quite ruthless to attempt to pick out any of these photomanipulations I have always admired.
Then I came upon this [link] piece by ~Lemmy-X, and I must say it almost reduced me to tears. I have always liked originality.
Then of course I stumbled upon the awesome gallery of
There are numerous others that I could list that have helped me around here
and of course
:iconGilraen-Ar-Fenniel: thank you for the inspiration!
and lastly
So here I am sitting in front of the computer, and writing some random stuff. Anyway as I was saying to begin with, there are two pieces I wanted to work on, but couldn't get the right perspective. All I could do was close the document in Photoshop, and went it asked whether I wanted to save it, press no.
The first piece I wanted to work on, was a piece strongly inspire by the work of *Tolkienmaster and the movie of Lord of the Rings. I found two stocks, one with Rohan warrior maiden, and the other one with a Victorian stable. I wanted to transform the stable into the one that resembled the stable of Rohan, but failed. I'd like to blame my Photoshop, but I think it's my skills.
The second piece was meant to be a winter theme inspired(since I already have autumn in my gallery)
I came here now to read some tutorials, but I find that most of them have disappeared.
Oh well. Thnak you anyone who had the persistence to finish this journal entry.

"I wonder what's in a book while it's closed. I know it's full of letters printed on paper, but [..] something must be happening, because as soon as I open it, there's a whole story with people I don't know yet and all kinds of adventures and battles."
